UP: One more arrested in human trafficking involving Rohingyas
Lucknow, Aug 6(UNI) Sleuths of the Anti Terrorists Squad (ATS) on Friday claimed to have arrested one more member of the gang involved in a human trafficking racket involving Bangladeshis and Rohingyas into the country.
The gang was busted on July 27 last when ATS arrested three members of the gang and claimed that the group was involved in human trafficking especially of women and children to settle them in cities like Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi through forged documents. The ATS has claimed to have arrested five members of the gang so far.
According to an official communiqué released on Friday, the sleuths of the ATS claimed that on the basis of inputs which they extracted from the members of the group arrested earlier, they arrested another member of the gang from Telangana in Hyderabad on Thursday evening. The arrested member was identified as Mohamed Ismail, a native of Mangdu district in Myanmar. He was staying in Prince Colony in Bahadurpur area of Hyderabad and facilitating the gang leaders in human trafficking. The ATS produced Ismail in a local court in Hyderabad and took his transit remand. He will be now be produced before a local court here in Lucknow and the ATS would seek his police custody remand to interrogate him further.
Earlier ATS had claimed that they were getting information for some time that an international gang was illegally bringing citizens of Bangladesh and Myanmar, especially women and children, to India to settle them in cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi. Upon investigation, it was found that the leader of this international human trafficking gang is one Muhammad Noor alias Noorul Islam, who was luring Rohingya and Bangladeshi women into marriage, and men and children to work in factories, the release mentioned. By bringing them to India, they were made to settle on the basis of coded forms.
According to the information given by the police, these human traffickers exploited the victims including women and children financially, physically, and mentally. It also came to light that smugglers are earning a huge amount of money from this work. ATS investigation revealed that Noor Muhammad was going to Delhi by train (Brahmaputra Mail) along with some Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals when the probing team deboarded 5 persons including two girls and interrogated them in Ghaziabad. Besides Islam, the other two arrested have been identified as Rahmatullah and Safiurrehman alias Safiullah, all hailing from Myanmar.
