New Delhi: Indian wrestler Anjali has made the country proud by securing a silver medal in the women’s 59 kg category at the Under-23 World Wrestling Championship. After an impressive performance in the semifinals, where she defeated Italy’s Aurora, Anjali faced Ukraine’s Solomiya in the finals. Despite her valiant efforts, she lost on points, but her achievement has been a significant milestone for Indian wrestling.
Chirag Advances to Finals
In the men’s freestyle category, Chirag has also made headlines by reaching the finals in the 55 kg weight class. He is set to face Kyrgyzstan’s Abdimalik Karachov in the championship match. With this performance, Chirag has ensured at least a silver medal, further highlighting the rising standards of Indian wrestling on the global stage.
Multiple Medals for India
The championship has seen several Indian wrestlers stepping onto the podium. Neha Sharma (57 kg), Shiksha (65 kg), and Monika (68 kg) each clinched bronze medals, showcasing their skills by defeating strong opponents from China and Japan. In Greco-Roman wrestling, Ramchandra More (55 kg) also added to the medal tally by securing a bronze. This successful outing reflects the depth of talent within the Indian wrestling community.
