Trump holds first rally following assassination attempt with new running partner

GRAND RAPIDS: Donald Trump traveled to Michigan with his new running partner for his first campaign rally since surviving an assassination attempt Saturday.

It was exactly one week ago, to the hour, to the minute,” Trump reminded the crowd, recalling the July 13 Pennsylvania shooting that left him with a bloodied ear, killed one of his fans, and injured two others.

“I stand before you only by the grace of almighty God,” he continued, replacing his white gauze over his ear with a skin-colored bandage. “I shouldn’t be here,” he said.

Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance attended their first event together since becoming GOP nominees at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

“I find it hard to believe that a week ago, an assassin tried to take Donald Trump’s life, and now we have got a hell of a crowd in Michigan to welcome him back on the campaign trail,” Vance stated before Trump’s arrival
