Three JJMP ultras gunned down in encounter by forces in Jharkhand
Latehar: Three ultras belonging to the Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) were killed in an encounter inside Bendi forest located under Sadar Police Station area of Latehar district of Jharkhand on Monday.
At the time of the filing of the story the identity of the killed ultras has not been ascertained. Police were continuing search and combing operations in Bendi and other surrounding areas.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan said a tip off had been received that JJMP supremo Pappu Lohra along with his squad was moving in the area with the intention of collecting levy and executing a crime. Acting upon the information two teams were constituted including one led by SDPO Santosh Mishra and the second by SI Dharmendra Kumar.
As soon as the ultras saw the police, they opened fire and the jawans retaliated. In the gun battle, three ultras were killed, the Latehar SP said adding that from the killed ultras two Insas Rifles and an SLR along with a large number of cartridges have been recovered. Post the news Palamu DIG Rajkumar Lakra alongwith Latehar SP also reached the spot. (UNI)
