Three drug peddlers, a bootlegger arrested in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Jun 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police arrested three drug peddlers and a bootlegger in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, a police spokesman said.
He said a police established a checkpoint at Bonigam Crossing and Kulgam district during which three persons trying to flee were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. They have been identified as Reshu Pal son of Kuldeep Singh resident of Pathankot, Javeed Ahmad Dar alias Jani resident of Bonigam and Arshid Ahmad Mir resident of Beerwah Budgam. During checking, police recovered one Kg of Poppy Straw, 50 grams of Heroin and 25 grams of Charas from their possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 143/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.
He said in another operation police arrested a bootlegger and recovered six bottles of illicit Liquor from his possession in Damhal Hanjipora in Kulgam district.
He said a case with FIR No.67/2021 U/S 48, 50 Excise Act stands registered in Police Station DH Pora and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
