Three day conclave kicks off at NIFT Kangra

Jul 5 (UNI) National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kangra, on Thursday began a three day conclave to express gratitude to the weavers and artisans for keeping the handloom industry alive by their new ideas and help to sustain the age old tradition of the state.
Kangra NIFT Director Aakash Dewangan, who inaugurated the conclave today, told UNI that Indian traditional textiles and weaving had a tremendous impact on Indian society.
“Preserving our Textile traditions and create awareness of Handloom fabrics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked 7th of August as the ‘National Handloom Day,” Mr Dewangan said.
He also deliberated on various ways to develop the marketing strategies in front of fashion and designing students’ community which may benefit the weaver’s community.
As many as 40 artisans joined the conclave from all over the hill state.
