New Delhi: Tata Group is set to create over five lakh new manufacturing jobs over the next five years through its expansive projects, revealed N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, in his New Year message to the Group’s employees.

The manufacturing jobs will be generated as a result of the Group’s investments in various sectors, particularly in cutting-edge industries such as batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, solar equipment, and other crucial hardware. These products are expected to play a key role in India’s future economy.

Chandrasekaran emphasized that the job creation will also extend to the services sector, including retail, tech services, airlines, and hospitality. These initiatives reflect Tata Group’s ongoing commitment to India’s economic growth and provide significant employment opportunities.

Among the major developments are the construction of over seven new manufacturing plants, including India’s first semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and a semiconductor OSAT plant in Assam. Additionally, Tata is setting up electronics assembly plants in Karnataka, automotive plants in Tamil Nadu, and battery cell manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Somerset, UK.

Chandrasekaran also highlighted the C295 final assembly line in Vadodara, Gujarat, and the solar module production facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, among other key projects.

He also expressed enthusiasm for the opportunities emerging in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and manufacturing, areas that offer vast potential for economic and social advancement. “Such moves are exciting for our Group and for India,” he stated, adding that the AI and manufacturing sectors are combining to bring both economic opportunities and social progress.

With India’s growing talent pool and capacity to meet the needs of global supply chains, the Tata Group believes the country is well-positioned to benefit from shifting global supply chains that prioritize resilience over efficiency in a time of geopolitical instability.

Chandrasekaran’s message underscores Tata Group’s role as a major player in India’s future economic landscape and its potential to offer hope to the one million young people entering the workforce every month.
