Suspended Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh Alleges Conspiracy by SGPC, SAD
Claims SGPC is expediting actions under political influence to ensure his permanent removal…..
Faridabad : Suspended Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, has sparked controversy by accusing the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of orchestrating a conspiracy to permanently oust him. He termed the alleged conspirators as “messengers of Badals” and accused the SGPC’s three-member committee of hastening their proceedings against him.
Giani Harpreet Singh revealed that a crucial meeting of the five high priests, initially scheduled for January 28 to address issues based on Gurmat principles, was postponed to facilitate an SGPC executive meeting aimed at his removal. He alleged that certain SGPC committee members were acting under the guidance of a SAD leader expelled by the Akal Takht.
Referring to allegations of violating the Sikh ‘maryada’ (code of conduct), Giani Harpreet Singh noted that he had already clarified his stance before the ‘Panj Pyaras.’ Despite this, he claimed the SGPC was attempting to build a narrative to implicate him in baseless charges, potentially leading to his termination.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh dissented with the SGPC’s inquiry, stating it violated Akal Takht’s authority over Jathedars. He highlighted that the SGPC’s investigation lacked validity, as the allegations, including an 18-year-old domestic dispute, had already been addressed.
Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh emphasized the need for a meeting of the five high priests and directed the SAD working committee to conduct membership drives under the supervision of a previously established seven-member committee. He assured that the high priests’ meeting would be convened soon to address these pressing issues.
