RBI Governor Urges Support for ‘Viksit Bharat’ Goal
Calls on Colleagues to Contribute to India's Development...
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Sanjay Malhotra, on Monday, encouraged his colleagues to strive for perfection and actively contribute to the realization of the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). In a message to staff, Malhotra, who took charge as the RBI Governor last Thursday, reassured employees that the RBI, an “august institution,” is now his “family.”
Malhotra expressed his commitment to supporting the country’s goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and stressed the importance of continuous improvement in the performance of the central bank’s critical functions. “I exhort you to strive for perfection in performing our critical roles as we enter Amrit Kaal and support in the realization of our vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he said.
Facing various challenges, including inflation and currency pressures, Malhotra emphasized the need for constant progress and the principle of “kaizen”—the practice of continuous improvement—in ensuring that the institution excels.
“I hope you will continue to put your best foot forward and not only maintain but also improve the high standards already set,” he added. He also highlighted the importance of upholding the core values of public service, such as integrity, impartiality, accountability, and transparency.
Malhotra reiterated that the RBI touches the lives of every citizen, playing a crucial role in monetary policy formulation, price stability, currency management, and foreign exchange operations. He committed to fostering a collaborative work environment and emphasized the significance of participative decision-making.
“I will maintain an open-door policy and remain accessible to each one of you, irrespective of rank or seniority,” he stated. “The welfare of my fellow members and their families is the highest priority for me.”
Malhotra concluded his message by expressing his enthusiasm for working with RBI staff to elevate the institution to greater heights.
