Sukhbir Badal Calls for Sikh Community’s Unity, Takes Responsibility for Past Mistakes

Former SAD Chief Urges Rebuilding Ties, Slams Amritpal and His Party as "Traitors of the Panth".......

Muktsar : Former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, during a rally at the Maghi Mela in Muktsar, reached out to the Sikh community, urging them to rebuild their relationship with his party. He promised to make sacrifices for the Panth, Punjab, and Punjabiyat. Sukhbir also took responsibility for any mistakes committed by him or his late father, Parkash Singh Badal, and asked the Sikh community to forgive them if they were upset for any reason.

Sukhbir’s comments come after the Akal Takht’s directive led to his resignation as the party’s president in December 2024. He also reiterated his stance on the desecration of religious texts, claiming innocence and saying that he apologized to the Akal Takht to end the controversy surrounding the sacrilege issue.

In his speech, Sukhbir strongly criticized jailed Khalistani sympathizer Amritpal Singh and his party, calling them “traitors of the Sikh Panth” and warning the public about their intentions. He added that anti-Panthic forces had targeted his father, who, according to him, served the Sikh community like no other.

The rally, which marks the first major SAD event after the Akal Takht’s decree, saw several key party leaders, including Sukhbir’s wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, absent from the proceedings. Sukhbir’s appeal for unity was a direct attempt to reconnect with the Sikh community, who have drifted away from the party in recent years.
