Sukhbir Badal Accepts Religious Punishment at Golden Temple, To Serve as Sevadari

Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal Performs Religious Service After Being Condemned for Religious Violations

Chandigarh  : Sukhbir Badal, President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), arrived at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday to perform seva (service) as part of the religious punishment handed down by Sri Akal Takht. This punishment follows his involvement in several religious offenses during the SAD-BJP government, including the desecration of religious scriptures and supporting controversial actions.

Badal, wearing a signboard around his neck, will perform tasks like cleaning shoes and washing utensils in the Golden Temple, in line with his penance. This sentence, also imposed on other senior party leaders, serves as a spiritual remedy for actions deemed harmful to the Sikh community.

The religious penalty was issued after Badal’s involvement in the incidents surrounding the 2015 sacrilege and the controversial elevation of police officers involved in the killings of Sikh youth.

Along with Badal, former MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa also arrived at the Golden Temple wearing a signboard and carrying a spear, following the religious instructions.
