Senior Healthcare Professionals form a Helpage & Welfare Society in Mohali
Mohali: A congregation of Senior Doctors and Healthcare professionals gathered at SPAW Hospital in Mohali today, Oct. 30, with a mission to make cheap and affordable health services available to poor and needy citizens of Mohali and Punjab. Medical experience was more evident in the gathering alongwith age and josh, especially to alleviate the suffering poor people and the aged members of society.
Over 50 professionals gathered and solemnised a vow to take up all such activities in the society which make social life and envronment health and cleaniliness friendly. President-appointee Gurudev Singh Chauhan introduced all members of the proposed society- to be named as Helpage and Welfare Society, in the area, preferably at SPAW Hospital premises in Mohali.
Among the speakers were Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Sr. Medical Officer, Dr. Ahluwalia, a senior medical consultant, Dr. Sarvpreet Singh of SPAW Hospital, Smt. Dalbir Kaur and many others. Some speakers emphasised on going slow and pragmatically, to set achievable goals while others were confident of going full bloom with domestic help and NRI investment.
The meeting finalised a Managing Committee for the newly formed Society, with Gurdev Singh Chauhan as President, Dr. Bhupinder Singh as Chairman, Dr. Sarvpreet Singh as Vice Chairman. Dr. Jasbir Singh Bains was appointed as General Secretary and PK Chand as Jt. Secy. Among the other members selected were S. Sukhminder Singh Gill and S. Balraj Singh as Vice Presidents; PK Mitra (Sr. VC), Adv. Mahadev Singh as legal advisor and Lakhwinder Singh as Finance Secy. Dr. Harman Preet Kaur was selected as Vice Chairperson Medical Wing alongwith Dr. Jashanpreet Kaur in tow.
The meeting decided to fix Rs. 500 as membership fee per family, over-riding any limit for donations and contributions for helping the Helpage Welfare Society move its projects confidently.
