Speeding Truck Mows Down Family of Nomads in Kerala, 5 Dead

Kerala: tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on the national highway near Nattika in Thrissur district, Kerala, when a speeding truck carrying wooden logs ran over a family of nomads. Five people, including two children, lost their lives on the spot. Six others were severely injured and have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment, the police confirmed.
According to Ramesh, Circle Inspector at Valappad Police Station, the incident took place around 3:45 AM when the truck, traveling from northern Kerala, collided with a 6-foot barricade and veered onto a stretch of highway closed for expansion work. The barricades had been placed to redirect traffic, but the truck, speeding beyond control, pushed them aside before running over the victims, who had been sleeping on the roadside.
Local residents helped apprehend the two individuals inside the truck at the time of the incident, handing them over to the police. Investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are looking into the circumstances leading to the truck’s reckless speed and failure to follow road diversion signs.
