Sikkim CM PS Tamang initiates Electric Vehicle Revolution
Gangtok, Aug 27 (UNI ) Chief Minister PS Tamang, flagged off the First Electronic Vehicle here on Friday, joining the rest of the country in the Electric Vehicle Revolution.
CM has also launched an Electric Vehicle charging station. He was accompanied by Minister for Energy and Power MN Sherpa. This is a way forward to further Green policy as the Electric Car would reduce air pollution, reduce petrol consumption with many advantages. In course of time State is expecting to purchase more such vehicles. However country has only 170000 Electric vehicles on the road presently, with many two wheelers.
‘The Vehicle will be utilized as a pool vehicle by the Power Department. It is a great initiative to promote sustainable modes of transport in the State,’ said CM Tamang.
