Sikkim CJ JK Maheshwari among the 9 new Judges elevated to Supreme Court of India
Today's swearing -in brings strength of Supreme Court to 33,just one short of the sanctioned strength of 34
Gangtok, Aug 26 (UNI) President of India on Thursday appointed Justice Jitendra Maheshwari, Chief Justice of High Court of Sikkim, as the Judge of Supreme Court of India.
Justice Maheshwari has been heading High Court of Sikkim since sixth January 2021.Prior to this Chief Justice Maheshwari, has served as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh High Court’s as well.
Two other Judges appointed by the President include Justice Vikram Nath and Justice A S Oka.
Among the sworn justices are former Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Hima Kohli; former Karnataka High Court Chief Justice A S Oka; former Sikkim High Court Chief Justice J K Maheshwari; former Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Vikram Nath; Justice Nagarathna; former Gujarat High Court judge Justice Bela M Trivedi; former Kerala High Court judge Justice C T Ravikumar; former Madras High Court judge Justice M M Sundresh; and Senior Advocate P S Narasimha, who was directly elevated from the Bar
