Should media apologize to Rhea Chakraborty after SSR case..
Dia Mirza demands justice, criticizes media for targeting Rhea….
New Delhi : Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has called for an apology to Rhea Chakraborty, stating that the media unfairly targeted her for TRPs during the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Rhea, who was accused of abetment to suicide, financial fraud, and drug-related offenses, faced immense public scrutiny and media trials. However, after a lengthy investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found no evidence against her, granting her a clean chit.
Dia Mirza expressed her disappointment over how the media sensationalized the case, labeling Rhea as guilty without any concrete proof. She pointed out that news channels ran aggressive campaigns against her, leading to social media outrage and personal trauma. “The way she was vilified for months was inhumane. Now that she’s been cleared, shouldn’t those responsible for her suffering at least apologize?” Dia questioned.
Following Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise in June 2020, Rhea was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on drug-related charges and spent nearly a month in jail. During this time, she faced intense hate campaigns, lost professional opportunities, and endured mental distress. However, with the latest verdict clearing her of any wrongdoing, voices from the industry, including Dia Mirza, have begun advocating for justice beyond the legal verdict—seeking accountability from those who defamed her.
Rhea Chakraborty has slowly been trying to rebuild her life and career. She has spoken about the emotional and psychological toll of the accusations, stating that the period was the darkest phase of her life. Despite this, she remains hopeful about her future in the industry.
The controversy surrounding Rhea’s case has reignited debates on the ethics of media trials in India. Many believe that the aggressive and biased coverage set a dangerous precedent, where media narratives overshadow facts. Dia Mirza’s statement has added to the growing demand for responsible journalism, urging news outlets to acknowledge their mistakes when an innocent person is wrongly accused.
As discussions continue, the question remains: Will the media take responsibility for its actions, or will similar trials by media persist in the future
