New Delhi: In a remarkable performance at the 67th National Shooting Championship (NSCC) in Bhopal, Shahu Tushar Mane secured his first-ever senior national title in the men’s 10m Air Rifle event. Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s former world champion, Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, made history by breaking the world record and claiming the junior category title. Rudrankksh scored an impressive 254.9, surpassing the senior world record set by Olympic champion Sheng Liao of China by 0.4 points.

In the senior men’s final, Shahu Mane demonstrated exceptional consistency, never scoring lower than 10.1 on any shot, ultimately winning the gold with a narrow lead. Despite a strong comeback attempt by Dhanush Srikant, who scored 252.2, Mane held his ground, winning the title by just 0.1 point. Rajasthan’s Yash Vardhan secured the bronze medal, while Rudrankksh, despite his world record performance in the junior final, placed fourth in the senior category.

Rudrankksh’s victory in the junior final marked a significant turnaround after his disappointment in the senior event. In the junior men’s final, he outperformed Abhishek Shekhar of Karnataka by 3.5 points to clinch the gold. Haryana’s Himanshu, who had an outstanding day, secured the bronze in the same event. Himanshu also bagged a gold medal in the Youth 10m Air Rifle final with a score of 253.0. Yash Pandey from Madhya Pradesh followed closely behind to win silver, while West Bengal’s Abhinav Sahoo claimed the bronze.

This shooting championship not only showcased exceptional talent but also highlighted the high level of competition among India’s top shooters. Shahu Mane’s breakthrough victory and Rudrankksh’s world record performance add another feather to India’s growing reputation in the international shooting arena.
