Search Operations against drugs in Shivjot Enclave, Kharar, lead to 4 arrests

SAS Nagar (Kharar) : Launching a Cordon and Search Operation in line with the campaign ‘Yudh Nasheya Virudh’, Mohali Police arrested four persons, lodging four FIRs on Saturday.

Divulging the details, the Ropar Range, DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar,  who was present during the search operation along with SSP, Deepak Pareek said, “today’s operation was launched at Shivjot Enclave, Kharar. A team comprising 01 SP, 04 DSPs, 14 Inspectors/SHOs and 250 NGOs/EPOs conducted the operation.”

He further added, this area is dominated by tenants living in rented accomodations and PGs. A total 04 FIRs have been registered, 02 under Excise Act and 02 under 223 BNS (for non verification of tenants), wherein 04 persons have been arrested, he added.
Besides, 07 suspicious persons and 04 vehicles have been rounded up. As many as 48 bottles of liquor, and 1 Endeavour car have been recovered.

About 252 Gram Panchayats in Ropar Police Range Passed Resolutions to not to support drug traffickers besides taking pledge to make their villages drug free, said DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar while interacting with the media. This list contains 100 Panchayats from SAS Nagar, 70 in Ropar and 82 in Fatehgarh Sahib. He said that the campaign against drugs will continue till the eradication of drugs from the Punjab (with inputs from DPRO).
