Search for slain Christian Priest in Peshawar continues to evade
Islamabad, Jan 31 (UNI) The funeral of a Christian priest, who was killed by two terrorists while he was returning home from a church in Pakistan’s Peshawar, will be held on Monday, even as police has launched a manhunt for the killers. The deceased’s funeral would be held at the All Saints Church in Kohati, which was attacked by terrorists in 2013, killing a large number of attendees gathered there for Sunday services. after two terrorists opened fire on them. Father William Siraj left the local church in Gulbahar after Sunday mass along with Patrick Naeem and another priest when two armed motorcyclists opened fire on their vehicle near the Ring Road, the News International reported citing officials. “Initial reports suggested two terrorists opened fire and escaped on a motorbike. The police have launched an investigation,” said Capital City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan. According to The News International, the officials have ordered collecting CCTV footage from the nearby buildings to help identify the attackers. As per some reports, the faces of attackers were not covered. The injured person, who was rushed to a hospital, was later discharged. In the recent past, a series of target-killing of police officials, a religious scholar and members of Sikh community in Peshawar have been reported, according to the News International
