Scindia: Bagdogra airport upgradation to begin in December

New Delhi: The work on the expansion and upgradation of Bagdogra airport in northern West Bengal will begin in December, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Replying to a query from BJP MP Raju Bista, Scindia said Rs 1884 crores have been allocated for the development of a new civil enclave in Bagdogra airport.
“After obtaining various clearances from nodal departments, the work will commence in December 2022 with THE probable date of completion being June, 2025.”
Bagdogra is one of the 20 busiest airports in India, and key towards the development of tourism and trade in the region. Situated in the gateway to North Bengal, Sikkim and the eastern Himalayan region, Bagdogra has immense potential for growth, said Bista. (UNI)
