SC Defers Contempt Hearing as Dallewal Receives Medical AidNew Delhi : The Supreme Court on Wednesday deferred the hearing on contempt of court proceedings against Punjab officials, as farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who had been fasting, took medical aid without breaking his fast. The court welcomed the positive developments, noting that protesting farmers, including Dallewal, agreed to hold talks with the Centre. The Centre had previously sent a high-level delegation to meet Dallewal and other farm leaders on January 18, leading to an agreement for talks in Chandigarh on February 14.

Acknowledging the improvements in Dallewal’s health after receiving aid near the protest site, the court advised him to visit PGI, Chandigarh, for a thorough medical check-up prior to the talks. The bench also noted that other farm leaders had ended their fasts and were ready to resume discussions.
