In a shocking daylight robbery in Abohar, Punjab, two armed assailants broke into the home of a woman professor, held her hostage, and looted a significant amount of cash and gold jewelry. The incident, which occurred in the Jain Nagar area, has left the local community in fear and disbelief.

The victim, Jyoti Chugh, a college lecturer, returned home on Friday evening and opened the gate to enter her house. Within moments, two men, appearing to be intoxicated, forced their way inside, brandishing a metal saw. They threatened and attacked her, taking control of the situation by locking her up as a hostage. The robbers then demanded the keys to a cupboard, from which they extracted Rs. 3.5 lakh in cash and approximately 15 tolas of gold jewelry before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s husband returned shortly after the robbers left and immediately contacted the police. Upon receiving the report, the local police arrived at the scene and began their investigation. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras in an attempt to identify the perpetrators and track down their whereabouts.

The crime has sparked widespread concern in the neighborhood, as it occurred in broad daylight, highlighting the audacity of the criminals. Residents are now calling for increased security measures in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.

As of now, the police have not made any arrests, but they are actively pursuing leads based on the CCTV footage. The community is hopeful that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
