Punjab will change in a month: Mann

Sangrur (Punjab), March 10 (UNI) Punjab’s Chief Minister designate Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday said the people will be able to see changes in the government’s functioning within a month after the formation of an AAP Ministry. Mann also told supporters massed outside his house that no government office in Punjab will have his photograph. Instead, every office will have framed photographs of revolutionary Bhagat Singh and Dalit leader and Constitution architect B.R. Ambedkar. “There will be a visible improvement in the working of the Punjab government within a month,” he said, speaking from the rooftop as supporters kept a steady chant of slogans. “With your help, we will run Punjab jointly as I am your Chief Minister. Though we need time as Punjab is in a crisis, within a month you will see a difference,” said Mann, who was elected from Dhuri constituency. He said he and the Ministers will take oath at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Bhagat Singh, and not at the Raj Bhavan. “Earlier, the Punjab government was run from various palaces. Now it will be run from villages, cities and wards.” He said he had forgiven his political opponents for mudslinging and targeting him personally. Mann said he had predicted the defeat of all senior leaders including members of the Badal family. He said they would take the help of the Centre in improving the health and education sectors and to provide cheaper electricity to Punjab residents.
