Punjab to Get 34 Amrit Stations, ₹5,421 Crore Fund Allocated
Central Minister Vaishnaw Highlights 24 Times More Funding Compared to 2009-14…….
Jalandhar : In a major boost for Punjab’s infrastructure, the government has announced the establishment of 34 Amrit stations across the state, with a total fund allocation of ₹5,421 crore. The initiative is part of the government’s larger plan to modernize railway stations and enhance passenger amenities under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Central Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasized that this funding represents a substantial increase when compared to previous years. He pointed out that between 2009 and 2014, only a fraction of this amount was allocated, and now the state is receiving 24 times more financial support for railway development. This increase in funding highlights the government’s commitment to improving public transport infrastructure in Punjab and other states.
The development of these 34 Amrit stations will focus on modernizing infrastructure, providing better facilities for passengers, and improving accessibility for differently-abled individuals. The stations will feature upgraded waiting areas, better sanitation, improved security measures, and enhanced facilities for women and children. These upgrades are expected to significantly improve the overall experience for railway passengers in Punjab.
Vaishnaw also highlighted that the funding is a reflection of the current government’s dedication to prioritizing infrastructure development across the country, with a special focus on the welfare of passengers. This funding is expected to contribute to the overall growth of Punjab’s railway network, which plays a vital role in connecting the state to other parts of India.
The announcement has been welcomed by local leaders and residents, who believe that the improved railway infrastructure will not only provide a more comfortable travel experience but also stimulate economic growth by facilitating better connectivity for businesses and industries.
The Indian government aims to complete the renovation and development of these stations in the coming years, setting a benchmark for modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly railway stations.
