Punjab: ISYF activists sent to 7 days police remand
Phagwara, Aug 21 (UNI) A local court on Saturday sent two activists of banned outfit International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) in seven days police remand for further interrogation.
It may be mentioned here that police produced the arrested accused Gurmukh Singh, son of former Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode, and Gagandeep before local Judicial Magisrate here.
In a major operation, Punjab Police has nabbed two activists of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) with a large quantity of weapons and exposed a major conspiracy to destabilize the state.
The Police recovered a large consignment of arms and ammunition, including a tiffin bomb, five head grenades, 11 boxes of detonators, two tubes containing RDX suspected to be received from across border through drones. Apart from this, a .30 bore pistol, 2 magazines, 4 Glock pistol magazines, high explosive yellow wire, Indian currency of Rs 3.75 lakh and 14 Indian passports were also recovered. In addition, the police recovered two USV vehicles which have also been seized.
A case under Sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 18-B, 20 of the Prevention of Illegal Activities Act, 1967 and Arms Act have been registered at Sadar Police Station, Phagwara against the arrested accused.
The arrests of these accused are being considered as a big achievement of the police headed by Senior Superintendent of the Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh.
