Punjab Government Schools Raise Concerns Over Non-Functional Solar Panels, Authorities Take Action

PSEB directs district education officers to resolve solar panel issues in schools through district-wise meetings with PEDA officials…..

Ludhiana: Several government schools in Punjab have reported issues with their rooftop solar panel systems, which were installed as part of the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) initiative. The project, covering 4,488 schools, aimed to promote environment-friendly energy solutions and reduce electricity consumption. However, many schools have now complained that their solar panels are not functioning properly.
Taking immediate action, the Director General of School Education (DGSE), Punjab, has issued a letter to all district education officers (secondary and elementary) instructing them to address the complaints. The letter directs officials to hold district-wise online meetings between PEDA representatives and school heads to diagnose and resolve the issues.

These meetings are scheduled to take place between January 16 and January 27, focusing on troubleshooting faulty solar panels and ensuring their optimal performance. PEDA technical experts will also participate, providing necessary guidance on system repairs and maintenance.

The installation of solar panels in schools was a landmark initiative aimed at reducing electricity bills and promoting sustainable energy solutions. The move not only helped schools save costs but also educated students about renewable energy and environmental conservation.

However, with reports of malfunctions, the government is now treating the matter as a priority. Officials have assured that necessary repairs and replacements will be carried out at the earliest to restore the efficiency of solar power systems across affected schools.

This development highlights the importance of regular monitoring and maintenance of renewable energy projects to ensure long-term benefits. The Punjab government has reaffirmed its commitment to green energy initiatives and will continue to work towards resolving any technical challenges that arise.

Students, teachers, and school administrators are hopeful that these proactive measures will restore the solar panels to full functionality, ensuring uninterrupted access to clean energy.
