Punjab Congress Intensifies Campaign Against AAP in Delhi Polls

Punjab Congress Intensifies Campaign Against AAP in Delhi PollsChandigarh : The Punjab Congress has deployed 250 leaders to campaign aggressively in the Delhi Assembly elections, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over its unfulfilled promises in Punjab. Key issues raised include AAP’s failure to provide a promised monthly stipend for women and its handling of law and order in the state.

Congress leaders, including Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, former CM Charanjit Singh Channi, and others, are spearheading door-to-door campaigns in Punjabi-speaking areas of 15 constituencies, such as Kalkaji, New Delhi, Badli, Janakpuri, and Rajouri Garden.

Highlighting the 2024 Lok Sabha results, where Congress secured seven seats compared to AAP’s three, Punjab Congress leaders are showcasing what they describe as AAP’s “misgovernance” in Punjab. They criticize AAP’s failure to fulfill its promise of a monthly ₹1,000 stipend for women aged 18 and above, a commitment now being echoed in Delhi’s election promises.

“This is a rehearsal for the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls,” said a Congress leader, underscoring the campaign’s dual purpose of discrediting AAP in Delhi while strengthening Congress’s position for future Punjab elections.

The Congress also accuses AAP of failing to address the drug menace and deteriorating law and order in Punjab, urging Delhi voters to scrutinize AAP’s “Punjab model” touted during the elections.

Having parted ways with AAP in the Opposition INDIA bloc for this poll, Congress aims to reclaim its legacy in Delhi, where it ruled for three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013.
