Yogi govt presents Rs 6.15 lakh cr budget in UP Assembly

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the government has presented the biggest budget in the state keeping in mind the public aspirations and with a vision of holistic and inclusive development.
Talking to the reporters after the budget was presented in both the houses of the Legislature, Yogi said: “The new government has presented its budget for 2022-23 as per the aspirations of the 25-crore people of the state.”
“This budget has been prepared with the vision of holistic and inclusive development of the state and keeping in mind all sections of the society, including villages, poor, farmers, youth and women.
“This is in tune with Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra issued under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is also a vision for the next five years which will take the state towards holistic development. It is also a framework for the bright future of the state.”
Yogi said: “In the Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra, 130 announcements were made of which 97 have been incorporated in this budget and for which a provision of Rs 54,883 crore has been made. One of the prominent announcements was to provide two free cooking gas cylinders twice a year under Ujjwala scheme.”
He said that under the Pradhanmantri Kisan Yojna, 15,000 solar pumps will be established in the current fiscal. “Provision has been made for Sampoorna Parivar Survekshan Uttar Pradesh Yojna to issue poor welfare cards.”
The Chief Minister said that the government had decided to distribute tablets and smartphones to under-graduate and postgraduate students and a target of distributing two crore devices in the next five years has been fixed.
He said that as a part of social security a provision of more than Rs 7,000 crore has been made for the Old Age Pension scheme.
“In 2019 a grand Kumbh was organized in Prayagraj which made a mark on the national and international level. Maha Kumbh will be organized in Prayagraj in 2025. We have opened a separate head to make Maha Kumbh historical.”
Yogi said that after the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi, footfall has increased and around one lakh people visit the place every day.
“We have allocated funds for rope-way and Metro in Varanasi,” he said.
He added: “To modernise education and to connect it with technology it has decided to establish smart classes in all the government colleges in the state for which provision has been made in the budget.”
He said that it is the biggest budget in the history of the state. “The budget size which was around Rs 3 lakh crore in 2015-16 has reached more than Rs 6.15 lakh crore and it has doubled. We also increased the revenue of the state. The economy of the state has doubled in the last five years.”
