PowerGrid Signs MOU for Upgradation of Cremation Grounds under Shiv Dham Yojana

Haryana Govt’s Shiv Dham Yojana will benefit 503 villages and 658 places across Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, and Rewari districts

Gurugram: The power sector Maharatna  PSU, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited  under Ministry of Power,  has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana State Development and Panchayat Department for construction and restoration of crematoriums and burial grounds in rural areas of the state under the Shiv Dham Yojana on Thursday.

The MoU was signed in the presence of  Chief Minister of Haryana  Nayab Singh Saini,  Cabinet Minister  Rao Narbir Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, POWERGRID,  R. K. Tyagi, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID, Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Addl. CEO, Haryana State CSR Trust, Gaurav Singh, and other senior officials from POWERGRID,  Haryana government and Districts Administration, Gurugram, according to a company press note.

The Shiv Dham Yojana will benefit 503 villages and 658 places across four districts of Haryana – Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, and Rewari. This initiative aims to ensure essential facilities, including drinking water, covered shelters, access roads, and boundary walls in all cremation grounds and cemeteries located in rural areas of the state. The State Development and Panchayat Department of Haryana will oversee the implementation. The Shiv Dham Yojana seeks to provide a dignified and respectful environment for conducting last rites, while also promoting environmentally friendly practices.

With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation. and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain an average transmission system availability of more than 99.8%.
