PM Modi, Singapore PM hold first in-person talks post Covid

Rome/New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held bilateral talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, in their first in-person meeting in the post-pandemic period, during which the two discussed climate change and facilitating international travel.

Prime Minister Modi in a tweet said they had an excellent meeting and the talks focused on trade, culture and other subjects.
“Had an excellent meeting with PM @leehsienloong on ways to further scale-up the friendship between India and Singapore. Our talks focused on trade, culture and other subjects,” he posted.
Meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Rome, the two leaders discussed global efforts to combat climate change and the forthcoming COP26.
They also discussed ongoing efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic through expedited vaccination efforts and ensuring supply of critical medicines.
In this context PM Modi appreciated Singapore’s outreach to provide Covid assistance to India during the second wave. Prime Minister Lee congratulated the Prime Minister for the rapid vaccination drive in India.
They also discussed ways to enhance people to people ties, including early normalization of movement between both countries, an MEA statement said.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet, said:
“Furthering India-Singapore ties.
“PM @narendramodi meets Singapore PM @leehsienloong on the sidelines of #G20Summit.
“Discussed climate change and facilitating international travel.”
