Owaisi: If girls have right to vote at 18, why not right to marriage
Meerut, Dec 18: National president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that if girls have right to vote at the age of 18 then why not the right of getting married.
Addressing ‘Shoshit Vanchit Samaj Sammelan’ here, he said that the BJP government’s logic behind raising the age of marriage for a girl from 18 to 21 years is baseless.
The AIMIM chief said at the moment, there are several issues in the country on which the government should focus and worry.
Owaisi said that he has come to request that the people should use their votes carefully and elect their leader, otherwise the leader elected by them will continue to shift loyalties. Referring to Maliana and Hashimpura incidents of Meerut, he said that if minorities still don’t learn a lesson from atrocities committed against them, then it will be too late.
