Opposition wants discussion on Pegasus in Parliament: Rahul

Most opposition parties, except TMC leaders protested outside Parliament House

New Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the Opposition wants a discussion on the Pegasus snooping row in Parliament.
‘We want a discussion on Pegasus,’ he told reporters here.
The government, he said has already refused to take up the matter in Parliament again. ‘We have been told clearly by the Government that no discussion will take place on Pegasus in the House,’ he stated.
“Every Opposition leader is here. We are here because our voices are being suppressed in Parliament,’ the Congress leader said.
‘We have just one question to ask. Did the Government buy Pegasus? Yes or No. Did the Government use Pegasus weapon against its own people?’ he asked.
He said the Opposition is not disturbing Parliament proceedings but just wants to fulfil its duties.
‘Why this weapon (Pegasus) has been used against India’s democratic institutions,’ the Congress leader asked.
After Mr Gandhi, other leaders of like minded Opposition parties including Shiv Sena, DMK Samajwadi Party also briefed the press on the espionage row.
The ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament has so far been largely paralysed with opposition
party members protesting over the over various issues, including Pegasus row and alleged snooping scandal and new farm laws.
