Opposition boycotts Maha Assembly over Jayant Patil’s suspension

Nagpur:  Opposition parties in Maharashtra on Friday boycotted the proceedings of the Assembly to protest the suspension of NCP MLA Jayant Patil for the remaining term of the Winter session for his alleged unparliamentary words against speaker Rahul Narvekar.
On Friday, the opposition dispensations sitting outside the Vidhan Bhavan building, started sloganeering against Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government and speaker Rahul Narvekar.
Ajit Pawar told reporters that they have decided to boycott the proceedings as Patil was suspended for no reason.
“We have decided to stay away from the proceedings as we are not allowed to speak”, Congress leader Ashok Chavan said.
“Since the opposition has raised the corruption issue of the Chief Minster Eknath Shinde, the opposition members are being targeted”, said Aditya Thackeray, the Shiv Sena leader.
After some time, the house business also came to standstill in the legislative council.
Importantly, NCP leader Jayant Patil, known to be close to NCP supremo Sharad Pawar had handled departments such as finance, home and water resources when he was minister. (UNI)
