Odisha CM Naveen announces 15 days relief for flood affected people

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced relief assistance for flood affected people for a period of 15 days.
Patnaik made the announcement after an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in the Mahanadi river system
He said relief would be provided to people in villages in Korthauer, Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur district for 15 days where flood water has entered the villages.
The Chief Minister said seven days relief assistance would be provided to people in villages of Sambalpur, Baragarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Angul districts where flood water has entered the villages.
He directed the officials to provide all sorts of assistance in the flood affected areas such as relief, cooked food, health care, drinking water, fodder and medicare to animals.
The officials were asked to assess the damage within seven days after the flood water receded and provide house damage and crop loss assistance within 15 days to the affected people
Chief Minister made an aerial survey of the islands of Luna, Chitrotapala rivers in Kendrapara district, islands of river Paika, a branch of Mahanadi, Kujanga and Naugaon of Jagatsinghpur district, Gopa, Nimapara, Astaranga, Delanga , Pipili and low-lying areas of Kansa in Puri district to assess the damages
The Chief Minister expressed his concern over the submergence of a large tract of crop land and damage of houses in flood water.Secretary to Chief Minister and 5T Secretary V K Pandian accompanied him during the aerial survey. (UNI)
