Not seen such unruly behavior of MPs in 30 years in RS: Ex-PM Deve Gowda
Bengaluru, Aug 22 (UNI) Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Sunday said he has not seen such unruly behaviour on the part of the MPs in his 30 years of being an MP and complained that he was not allowed to speak during the monsoon session.
“Due to the ruckus caused by the MPs of the opposition and ruling party members, I was not allowed to speak during the monsoon session. The session was entirely ruined without any work getting done,” he told reporters at the party’s office here.
These comments were in the context of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu suspending four TMC MPs for creating commotion in the upper house over the Pegasus snooping issue.
Commenting on the behaviour of Rajya Sabha members, Gowda said, “I am disappointed with the behaviour of the ruling and opposition members of the upper house. They pranced on the table. I have never seen such a thing happening in my 30 years as an MP.”
Moreover, such behaviour, Gowda said is an insult to the noble people who had fought for India’s independence.
After the conclusion of assembly session on September 24, Gowda said his party JDS will launch a statewide agitation to resolve the water disputes in the state, including those of the Krishna and Mahadayi rivers, besides the Mekedatu project.
He also said only the regional party like JDS can solve these two inter-state water disputes, not any national party.
