No Enmity Among Farm Unions, Only Differences of Opinion: Dallewal
Farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal highlights the need for unity among farmer unions and legal guarantee on MSP….
Patiala : Breaking his silence on the “ekta resolution” proposed by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (All-India), SKM (Non-Political) chief Jagjit Singh Dallewal clarified on Monday that the farm unions do not hold enmity toward each other. He emphasized that differences are only in opinions and priorities of demands.
Speaking from Khanauri, Dallewal pointed out that if SKM (All-India) leaders had supported the Khanauri protest, it would have exerted more pressure on the government to meet farmers’ demands, particularly for a legal guarantee on MSP.
Dallewal, showing signs of recovery, stated he would join the upcoming Chandigarh meeting either in person or via video conferencing. The SKM (All-India) has invited protesting unions for a third round of unity talks on February 12, following two unsuccessful meetings earlier this month.
SKM (Non-Political) leader Sukhjit Singh Hardo Jhande has urged the SKM (All-India) to reschedule the February 12 talks, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the ongoing protest. A rally is also planned on the same day.
The unity talks come just before the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and SKM (Non-Political) are set to engage in discussions with the Centre regarding farmers’ demands.
