Nitin Gadkari inaugurates various developmental projects in Goa

Panaji, Jan 3: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday inaugurated and laid foundation stone for six national highway projects worth Rs 3,840 crore in Goa.
The projects which were dedicated to the nation include 4 Lane National Highway from Karaswada to Bambolim and the 4 Lane National Highway Project from Patradevi to Karaswada.
While the Karaswada to Bambolim stretch of NH 66, which is 13 km long, has been developed at a cost of Rs 853 crore, the 18 km-long Patradevi to Karaswada stretch of NH 66 has been developed at the cost of Rs 634 crore.
The other projects which were dedicated to the nation were Margao Wester Bypass, developed at the cost of Rs 354 crore, Port Connectivity Road Loop 1 and developed at a cost of Rs 546 crore.
The projects for which foundation stone was laid included construction of Mopa Airport Connectivity Road, to be developed at Rs 1183 crore, construction of observatory towers on Zuari Bridge on NH 66 and six Central Road Infrastructure Fund works, which will have an investment of Rs 80 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gadkari said since 2014, the Centre has given Rs 22,000 crore for various development projects to Goa which needs a double engine government.
He said the state-of-the-art bridge being constructed over River Zuari would be one of the best bridges in the world.
‘The tower will be modeled on the Eiffel Tower. A mobile restaurant will be set up and there will be a facility to go there by boat and see the capsule lift,’ he said.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, his cabinet colleagues and several MLAs were present on the occasion.
