Naveen appeals to people not to panic and cooperate with relief staff

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday appealed to the people of four districts—Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanja not to panic and cooperate with the administration.
In a video message, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to cooperate and obey the instructions of the administration after the IMD predicted that the depression formed over northwest & adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression and is likely to cross West Bengal and Odisha coasts between Balasore & Sagar Islands around Friday evening.
After landfall it would continue to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand towards north Chhattisgarh and weaken gradually.
Under its impact heavy to very heavy rainfall would lash the four districts from this evening and squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail over North Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha coast.
It is likely to increase to 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph from noon till midnight of Friday over North Bay of Bengal and along and off north Odisha.
The Chief Minister said every life is precious for the government. Hence, everybody should stay safe and ensure the safety of their family members. (UNI)
