Punjab : The National Lok Adalat was successfully conducted across Punjab, offering a swift and cost-effective platform for resolving pending legal disputes. Organized under the guidance of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority (PSLSA), the event witnessed the settlement of thousands of cases, benefiting litigants seeking quick justice.
Courts in districts, tehsils, and various legal forums participated in the Lok Adalat, where a wide range of cases, including civil, matrimonial, banking, labor, land disputes, and traffic challans, were amicably resolved. The initiative aimed at reducing the backlog of cases in courts and promoting out-of-court settlements to ease the burden on the judiciary.
Judges, legal experts, and mediators facilitated the dispute resolution process, ensuring that all parties reached mutual agreements. Officials reported that the response from the public was overwhelming, as many litigants preferred Lok Adalat over lengthy court battles.
A senior judicial officer stated, “Lok Adalats provide an effective alternative for dispute resolution, saving time and money for both parties. The voluntary nature of settlements ensures that justice is delivered with mutual consent.”
One of the highlights of the event was the resolution of financial disputes between banks and defaulters, where many individuals were able to settle their outstanding loans with waivers and concessions. Similarly, family and matrimonial disputes saw positive outcomes, with several cases ending in peaceful settlements.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the hassle-free and speedy process. A litigant who had been involved in a property dispute for over five years said, “I never expected such a quick resolution. Lok Adalat gave me justice without the stress of prolonged court proceedings.”
The Punjab State Legal Services Authority urged more people to take advantage of Lok Adalats, emphasizing their importance in reducing court congestion and fostering a culture of dispute resolution through dialogue and compromise. Officials confirmed that more such Lok Adalats will be organized in the future to continue the momentum of justice at the doorstep.
With thousands of cases settled in a single day, the National Lok Adalat in Punjab proved to be a major success, reaffirming the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the Indian legal system
