Russia Claims Ukraine Carried Out Largest Drone Strike on Moscow…

A major drone attack targeted Moscow just before crucial peace talks in Saudi Arabia aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Russian officials have accused Ukraine of launching what they claim to be the largest drone strike on the Russian capital. According to reports, the attack caused fires and damage to residential buildings, forcing the temporary closure of two major airports. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that at least 60 drones were intercepted before reaching their targets, but debris from a downed UAV slightly damaged a building’s rooftop. Initial reports suggest no casualties.

The attack, reportedly one of the biggest so far, created panic across the city, with videos on Russian Telegram channels showing fires breaking out in multiple residential areas. One clip from the Baza news channel displayed an apartment engulfed in flames in the Ramenskoye district, about 50 km southeast of the Kremlin. The scale and timing of the attack have intensified tensions between Russia and Ukraine as efforts continue to mediate peace.

Meanwhile, high-level diplomatic discussions are set to take place in Saudi Arabia, involving representatives from Ukraine and the United States. This marks the first major meeting following a heated debate between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The summit in Riyadh is viewed as a significant step toward negotiating an end to the war, especially after tensions between Washington and Kyiv escalated, leading the U.S. to pause military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

Zelensky’s visit to Saudi Arabia is seen as a strategic move to rebuild diplomatic bridges, particularly after his public confrontation with Trump and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. The discussions are expected to address Ukraine’s need for continued support from its Western allies, despite shifting geopolitical alliances. The attack on Moscow just hours before these talks has raised concerns that it could further complicate diplomatic efforts and prolong the ongoing conflict.

As global leaders prepare for critical negotiations, the drone attack has underscored the volatility of the war and the urgency for a resolution. With Moscow accusing Ukraine and Kyiv yet to respond, the international community watches closely to see how this latest escalation impacts peace efforts.
