The victim, a resident of Mohali, had approached the property dealer to purchase a flat and paid an advance of ₹6.5 lakh. However, after some time, when the victim asked for the return of the advance amount, the dealer issued a check, which later bounced due to insufficient funds.

The victim then lodged a complaint with the Mohali police, accusing the property dealer of cheating and fraud. Upon investigation, police found that the property dealer had a history of similar complaints, and he had been involved in multiple fraudulent activities related to property deals.
