Modi tweets Chancellor Olaf Scholz: ‘Looking forward to working closely to strengthen ties’
New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Olaf Scholz on being elected as the chancellor of Germany and said he looks forward to working closely to further strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership. In a tweet, the PM said;
“My heartiest congratulations to @OlafScholz on being elected as the Federal Chancellor of Germany. I look forward to working closely to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership between India and Germany.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated his new German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on her appointment as the Foreign Minister of Germany.
“Congratulate @ABaerbock on her appointment as the Federal Foreign Minister of Germany.
“Look forward to our cooperation in strengthening our Strategic Partnership and addressing shared regional and global challenges,” he tweeted.
Angela Merkel bowed out on Wednesday after 16 years at the helm in Germany.
The country’s parliament formally elected Olaf Scholz to become the Chancellor on Wednesday. He is a member of the left-wing Social Democrat Party (SPD) and was sworn in in a ceremony in front of the country’s parliament.
