Mob attacks Meghalay CM’s office, five policeman harmed
Five police officers were injured when a mob attacked the Meghalay CM’s office. According to official authorities, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma was engaged in calm conversation when a mob suddenly appeared and attacked him.
GUWAHATI: On Monday evening, a large crowd of protesters gathered outside the Tura office of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and began throwing stones. To disperse the gathering, the on-site police department replied by firing tear gas rounds. The chief minister’s office (CMO) reported that five police officers were hurt in the ensuing ruckus.
Sangma was in the office but managed to go away unharmed. He was in conversation with some groups that wanted Tura to be designated as the state’s winter capital and that the backlog of jobs intended for the Garo population be immediately cleared.
Sangma was reportedly having civil conversations when a mob attacked him, according to official authorities.
“The chief minister had invited the protesting organisations to a meeting where all parties involved might participate. Thousands of people gathered outside the CMO in Tura and began throwing stones, they claimed.The attackers were not their members, according to the leaders of the protesting organisations.
