Chandigarh : Chandigarh experienced a significant drop in temperature due to intermittent rain and a hailstorm that lashed various parts of the city, including Sectors 22 and 36, on Friday evening. The maximum temperature plummeted by over 8°C, with the Chandigarh Meteorological Department recording 12.3 mm of rainfall until 8:30 PM.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 15.9°C, which is 3.9°C below normal, while the average temperature dropped by 8.2°C compared to the previous day. The minimum temperature stood at 9.4°C, which was 2.7°C above normal, marking a slight rise from yesterday’s 7.3°C.

This change in weather is attributed to the influence of Western disturbances, affecting parts of North India, including Chandigarh. The meteorological department has forecasted more rain for the city on December 28, with a partly cloudy sky and possible thundershowers. A mainly clear sky with dense fog is expected on December 29, followed by clear weather from December 30 to January 1.
