Five Babbar Khalsa International Members Arrested; Police Recover Firearms…
Batala: Punjab Police have arrested the mastermind behind recent hand grenade attacks on police posts in Batala and Gurdaspur, along with four accomplices linked to the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror network.
The police identified the mastermind as Abhijot Singh, who, along with his associates, was allegedly operating a terror module under the leadership of US-based Harpreet Singh (Happy Passia) and Shamsher Singh (Honey). The attacks, which targeted the Ghanian-Ke-Bangar and Wadala Bangar police posts earlier this month, involved hand grenades thrown into the police compounds.
The arrests were made after a special operation launched by Batala police, based on both technical and human intelligence. Along with the suspects, police also recovered two firearms, including a sophisticated 9 mm Glock pistol and a .32 bore pistol.
In a dramatic turn of events, Abhijot Singh and accomplice Kuljit Singh sustained bullet injuries when they attempted to flee while being escorted for further recovery. The police were forced to open fire in self-defense, and both men are now receiving treatment at Batala Civil Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
The DGP of Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed that the arrests had solved the recent attacks on police establishments across the state, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the entire terror module.
DIG Satinder Singh praised the Batala police for their swift action, which he credited for dismantling a significant part of the BKI network operating in Punjab.
