Mango Diplomacy: Bangladesh PM sends mangoes for Modi, Mamata
New Delhi, Jul 5 (UNI) On Sunday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent 2,600 kgs of mangoes in 260 cartons as gift for her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other leaders as “memento of friendship” between the two countries.
The consignment was received by First secretary (Political) of the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata Md Samiul Quader.
Hasina plans to send mangoes to the chief ministers of the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura, which all share borders with Bangladesh.
Last year, Bangladesh government had granted traders special authorization to export nearly 1,500 tonnes of Hilsa fish to India on the occasion of Durga Puja festival.
