Mamata insulted federal structure by embarrassing PM: BJP
Was CM Mamata irked by invite to Leader of Opposition ?
Patna, May 29 (UNI) Bihar BJP on Saturday criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for embarrassing Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the state and dubbed it as insult of federal structure envisaged in constitution.
Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP member of Rajya Sabha Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted that the way Ms Banerjee had treated Prime Minister Mr Modi, was not only an insult of a senior politician but it was attack on federal structure of the country. There was vast difference in the approach of Chief Ministers of Odisha and West Bengal where Prime Minister had gone for on the spot assessment of damages caused by Cyclone Yaas, he added.
“While Chief Minister of Odisha behaved decently and as per decorum, West Bengal Chief Minister did not show such dignity and rather embarrassed him”, BJP leader noted.
Ms Banerjee did not attend the meeting chaired by Prime Minister and later handed over memorandum with long list of heavy demands, he said adding that on the other hand, Odisha Chief Minister did not place demand before PM and maintained that he did not want to burden the Centre when country was facing challenges of Corona pandemic.
