Major Bureaucracy reshuffle, Alkesh Sharma IT Secretary
Former Petro' Secy. Tarun Kapoor to be Advisor to Prime Minister Modi; HR Rao is Addl. Secy in PMO
New Delhi, May 2: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the government has appointed senior IAS officer Alkesh Kumar Sharma (Bihar cadre) Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Among over a dozen IAS officers whose appointments and in-situ upgrade have been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, S K G Rahate of Jharkhand cadre will be Secretary, Department of Justice. Punjab cadre’s Vijoy Kumar Singh, currently Additional Secretary in the Textile Ministry, has become Special Secretary. Alka Upadhyaya will be Chairperson of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government by restoring the post to Secretary level. Three appointments were cleared in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Retired IAS officer, former Petroleum Secreary Tarun Kapoor will be Advisor to the Prime Minister the rank and pay of Secretary. Bihar cadre officer Atish Chandra will be Additional Secretary for the balance tenure of his central deputation. He is currently Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India. Hari Ranjan Rao, currently Administrator, Universal Services Obligation Fund (USOF), has also been appointed as Additional Secretary in the PMO. (UNI)
