Leopard Found Dead in Hoshiarpur, Punjab; Police Investigate Violation of Wildlife Act

Hoshiarpur : A leopard was found dead after getting trapped in a barbed wire fence surrounding a eucalyptus plantation in the Birampur forest area of Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The incident was reported on Monday when Garhshankar Forest Range Officer Rajpal Singh and Forest Guard Ramanpreet Kaur alerted the police.

Following the report, police registered a case for the violation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 2022, based on Singh’s complaint. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the leopard’s tragic death.

This incident has raised concerns over the safety of wildlife in the region and the need for better protection measures.
