Lawrence Bishnoi’s ‘Man’ Presents Chats to Seek Bail in Rape Case
Accused claims police officer’s influence led to false charges of rape and threats, backed by WhatsApp chats and call records….
New Delhi: The Supreme Court recently granted bail to a Punjab man accused of rape and allegedly using his connections with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to intimidate the complainant. In a bid to secure bail, the accused produced WhatsApp chats and call records between the woman and a senior Punjab Police officer, claiming they were evidence of a conspiracy against him.
According to reports, the man contended that he had been in a live-in relationship with the complainant, who later began a relationship with a police officer at the superintendent level. The accused’s defense claimed that the officer had used his influence within the police force to falsely implicate the man in the rape case.
The petitioner’s lawyer, RK Grewal, argued that there was no evidence to support the accusations of threats linked to Lawrence Bishnoi. He claimed the woman fabricated the story under the officer’s direction. “The motive behind the false implication is clear, as the officer was involved with the complainant and could not tolerate my client’s relationship with her,” Grewal stated.
In addition to the WhatsApp chats, the accused also presented video recordings that allegedly showed the officer’s relationship with the complainant, which they argue led to the filing of a false rape complaint. The case has raised concerns about police influence and potential misuse of power.
Earlier this month, the Mumbai Police also registered a non-cognizable case against an unidentified caller who allegedly threatened an ambulance operator in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi, further highlighting the ongoing influence of the notorious gangster.
